The one shoulder dress

One-Shoulder LBD from Calvin Klein fall 2009. Image Fernanda Calfat/Getty Images
So I have been seeing a lot of one shoulder dresses transitioning from Spring to Fall which I love, but one thing that has not transitioned so well were all the wonderful colors we saw in Spring. I love a little LBD as much as anybody, but try something new this fall: a bright colored one-shoulder dress. As always, if you want to do a more subdued look for colder weather, pair it with thick warm leggings, over-the-knee boots and still look like a flower when all the leaves are falling.

Neon Pink

There were a lot of neon shades going down the runway for Fall, but one of our favorites was the neon pink. Though we love a full on neon look like this one from Michael Kors, I think that a dash of neon pink goes a long way in real life. So if you're not ready to leave the house in a bright pink fur hat, try one of these looks:Bamboo Print Dress by Cantao
Pair this beautiful print dress with dark leggings, your favorite pair of booties, and a simple jacket and you've got a chic fall neon look.
This reversible scarf is a perfect way to add neon hints to a look without having to add something to your wardrobe that you might not use again next year. Because the print is so beautiful, the fabric so soft and you can pair it with any of the dozen colors on the scarf, you'll wear this season after season.
What I really love about this pink accented sweater is that you can you wear it with so many other great trends. Pair it with cool tight leather pants, great sunglasses and boots for a cool rock feel or with boyfriend jeans and fringed flat boots for a more laid back look.

Fall is here

Image from Elle.com trend report
It's pretty chili out there today so I know that Fall has definitely arrived... I'll be sharing my favorite trends for fall and I had to start with this one:
The White Shirt - Sounds simple enough, but find a white shirt that brings some excitement to an outfit. I love puff sleeves or pleats. Wear it with a fitted trouser or a pencil skirt and look super sleek. Mix it with colors and accessories and make it cool.
Try this one from Toucan if you want something a bit different since the fabric has a slight sheen and it has side pockets
Or try this one for a play on the classic, which I really love and it is also available in black.

This is Anna Marcolina

Even though we haven't officially launched them on Toucan Boutique yet, I just could not wait to give you peek at what one of the new designers we found at Fashion Business. This is Anna Marcolina and they come from Natal in the North of Brazil. As soon as I saw them, I knew I had to bring them to all of you and Toucan Boutique!
Anna Marcolina's laid back style and super soft comfortable fabrics are very reflective of the area in Brazil where they come from. But don't be fooled by the beachy feel, the pieces are also modern and super transitional. I really am excited to be the first one to bring them to you and will let you know as soon as they are available for purchase.

For those of you who will be there

Since I won't be in the area, I'd like to share this with all of you who are planning a trip soon or live in Miami, Fl.
Apex-Brasil and the Indy Racing League are joining forces and hosting a Brazilian Fashion Show, this Saturday the 3rd at the W Hotel in South Beach at 8pm. You must RSVP (fashion@cnapexbrasil.com) so hurry hurry if you wanna have a seat!
And if you are there, don't forget to send me pictures!

Introducing...

So this season was the first time I was lucky enough to participate in Fashion Business in Rio de Janeiro. Fashion Business gathers dozens of designers from all over Brazil and give them each a space in one huge tent. This is great because it gives domestic and international buyers like me, not only a one stop shop to all the brands I already buy from, but it was a great way to be introduced to brands I would have never know about. Can't wait to introduce you all to some of the beautiful new things I'm bringing...

Surfwear for the Fashionista

Go to 1:45 for the really juicy bits.

As always, I was super excited for the Redley summer 2010 show, first because it's a chance to see some menswear which I rarely do and secondly because they always plan something beautiful and organic with their shows. This season was no different since we got to see a whole bunch of deconstruction, organic fabrics and nature inspired colors and prints.
I've always really admired Redley for elevating the idea of surfwear to something stylish, cool and even elegant. I also love the idea that the looks can transition from the office to a night out or the day-to-day.
This is what we should all be wearing to a day at the beach!
And as with most things I love and obesses about, you can find the women's Redley collection at Toucan Boutique.

It's Cantão World for Summer

I know it's a bit difficult to think of next summer when we're just about to enter fall and winter, but for those of us who are used to the idea that the Southern Hemisphere gets to surf on Christmas day, or are lucky enough to "winter" in South America, here is some of what we'll all be wearing when the sun comes out again.
When I saw Cantão's summer 2009/2010 at this year's Fashion Rio I was instantly taken to the Little Big Island that was the show's theme and as they put it:

The women of Cantão value creativity and the ability to manually create what she wears. The loose silhouette attains mooring techniques, intertwining that allows adjustments to the body, overlapping layers and sophisticated patchworks of different materials such as linen, silk voile and lace. Cuts in different directions of the threading, appliqués, macramé and tresse - also used in sandals, are other features composing the crafty characteristics of the collection, as are the floral prints that seem to have been hand drawn by women.

And Because I like to share the things I love, you can now find Cantão's winter collection on my online store, Toucan Boutique and come back soon to see their summer collection.

Rio's Time for Fashion

It seems like every city has a fashion week these days which for me is great since I love seeing different interpretations of fashion. One fashion week that has been growing in the past few years is Rio Fashion Week, which they just refer to as Fashion Rio and it happens in January and June. This season I was lucky enough to have the time to attend a couple shows, participate in Fashion Business and still see a bit of the city.

The First Edition

Image from the New York Times Special Report from sep. 25th

Hello all,
Though I tend to think of my self as pretty easy going I can't help but wonder sometimes if I'm really the third kind of woman Harry described in When Harry Met Sally:
"You're the worst kind; you're high maintenance but you think you're low maintenance."
so I decided to name this blog Obs. Fashion because sometimes I know I can go from just making observations on details of fashion, to completely obsessing over some fashionable detail.
